The Virginia Cooper papers consist of records, publications and research notes pertaining to Revolutionary War patriot William Faris of Cumberland and Roanoke Counties, Virginia, son Benjamin Faris and their families. The collection includes information relating to the families of their wives with surnames Weissenburger, Baldwin, Petty, Garwood and Watkins. Additional Farises are documented in census, deeds, land grants, tax lists, wills, vital and court records from Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Fluvanna, Franklin, Goochland, Halifax and Henry counties.
