SCHOOL SONG
Upon a hill at lofty height
Stands Booker T . our strength and light
Deep in our hearts our love for you
Will ever grow so fond and true
Our inspiration you will be
For lasting cherished memory
Forever we will honor thee
All hail to thee , dear Booker T.
Oh, Booker T., Oh, Booker T.
Loyal to thee we'll ever be
We'll always keep you in our heart
Our thoughts of you will never part
Though far from you we all may roam
Our love for you will guide us home
Hail proud and free, imbued with thee
We'll sing thy praise, oh, Booke r T.

IN APPRECIATION
Quite an interesting phas e of administration of our school life is to
foster the development of Booker T . Washington Junior High School.
Booker .T. Was hington Junior Hig h School is one of Roanoke's newer
units of administration. It is the former Lucy Addison High School,
which was built in 1927. When it opened its doors to junior hig h leve l
students in September 1952, it was named the Booker T. Washington
Junior High School. The honor paid to one of America' s g reat educators
is a most de serv ed honor and s erves as a constant reminder to all of us
in the profession, and students as we ll, of the fact that no monument of
fame can be nobler than lasting memory in the minds of people.
This attractive Junior High School Annual is the product of many
alert minds and bands. It is the cooperative efforts of both teachers a nd
students of Booker T. Washington under the direction of Mr. J. Clodious
Toles, the Sponsor of the Student Participation Association and the director of the proj e ct. Especially, do I want to commend very highly the
Sponsor, the Annual Staff, and the S. P. A. President for their excellent
effort in making our Annual a reality. I also express our heartfelt appreciation to the class reporters and teachers for their splendid cooper ation.
The many activities shown in pictures, written reports, art cartoons,
etc. , depicting the real life of our school are the unique combination of
skill and talents of our students. May ev ery one who secures one of
thes e annuals have pleasant memories of the interesting and exciting
life at Booker T .
