The class of 1 50 has come a long way,
¥ any years we have worked for this happy day.
Ei5hteen smilin g faces, not such a large crowd,
Eut we are deli ghted and dignified Seniors end gee aren't we proud.
Let's forget the past for a m1nute,
The present is mere important by fer.
Let's take a look at our Seniors,
And find out who the y ere.
First, we find Felen Dean, with eyes and smile so bright,
She couldn't hide her friendliness if she tried all her might.
Next, there ts J.~. Archer, head high and chest inflating,
JJe .1 s worked twelve years to say, "Look friends, I'm graduating.''
Nancy Edmonds has a p e rsonality that will take her a long, long way,
11
She holds the rank as class president and "She's a very good one, I 1 d say.
John Jackson, our ex G.I., who doesn't !mow defeat,
Remembering him as bus driver and friend, we know he can't be beat.
Kext on the list is Betty Manuel, a quiet, sweet tempered lass,
She's plenr:ing for the future, not thinkin g of the past.
Imogene Fisher is a wonderful girl with hair and eyes of bro~n,
She's just the kind of friend we always like to have around.
?etty Collins is a real nice kid; we all think she is sweet,
And when it comes to basketball, she can't be be.et.
Clyde Watson is a friend to everyone, always jolly and gay,
We all like him a lotbecause he is the same from day to day.
Now there is Elizabeth Dickens, a very sweet friend and pal,
I'm telling you, boys, you ought to know Liz, she is a wonderful gal.
Next there is Bobby Collins, who is a friend to all,
we think he is swell in everything, especially basketball.
Now there is Leonard Fisher, a cute little guy,
P.ut it doesn't affect his knowledge; his grades are always hi gh.
!\'argaret Armentrout and fun seem to g o hand and hand,
She h as other g ood points too and gee, we think she is grand.
Next there is Larry Warden, perhaps the smartest boy in class,
No matter how hard the tests, he always seems to pass.
Ramond r,ravely is a good friend but sometimes very shy,
Everyone likes Ramond for he's such a friendly guy •
.H i g h School seems to have kept James Sutphin in e whirl,
perhaps it's not his studies, we think it is his g irl.
Now there is Richard Archer, as sweet as anyone,
Vie think he is go od company for he likes to hav e hls f un.
'There is Nancy Clark, who will be with us for gra d uati on ,
we are g lad you c ould make it, Nancy, here's our con g ratulations .
Last but not least is Willie 0g le, wh o tries ever y ones friend to b e ,

On September 6, 1945, a. group of fifty young and eager boys and

g1rl1:1 came ak1pp1ng tr.rough the gs.tea of Max Meadows H1g:b. School,
where they knew their lives would not be like the years they had left
behind.
We found our firbt year of high school v~ry different , because we
•ere not used to changing classes. However, it didn't take long tor us
to become acoua.tomed to this new system. We completed that year And round
that we enjoyed it even though we did have to work very hard, tor each

ot us tried to make a good start.
Upon entering our sophomore year we found one student less, Garland
Smith, who was drowned during the swnmer.
Our junior year was a more exciting year, because we received our
1
class rings in December llnd entertaine d the seniors at Hungry Mother a
Park. Sylvia Simpkins Joined us from Graham High School in Bluefield ,

Virginia.
Upon entering our senior year we found l? members. Connie Hurt
dropped out and was married. We still have 16 members who are striving
t .o graduate. Bill Pope, ~n ex-Mflrine came back this year to complete
his studies with us.
We have worked hard this year, and now that it is over we are beginning to realize that the happiest part or our lives is f1nishe~.
will l ~~d us on to a better
We sincerely hope that this
future.
