Description
Raleigh Tavern, Roanoke's first hotel, was located on Lynchburg (Orange) Avenue NE. Built in the early 1800s and long known as Pate's Tavern, it was a popular stopping-place on the north-south stages or on the road from Lynchburg west to Seven Mile Ford. The building was abandoned at the time this photo was taken.
