"Norfolk & Western's Locomotive 1218. Norfolk & Western's Class 'A' (2-6-6-4), Number 1218 rolls past her birthplace, Norfolk & Western's East End Shops in Roanoke, Virginia, where she was built in June of 1943. After serving the Norfolk & Western, acting as a stationary boiler for Union Carbide Corp. at South Charleston, West Virginia, and being on display at the Roanoke Transportation Museum, Number 1218 is again in use as a power for excursion trains to the delight of rail fans, young and old alike."
