That star was a part of my life while I was growing up and still is! I loved seeing it from different places in Roanoke. When it turned different colors my mom and dad would explain what the different colors meant when I was young. My husband, 47 years ago this coming August, ask me to marry him as we sat at the star!!! So this star has wonderful memories for me! I have pictures of this star all around my house. They bring smiles to me every time I see them. I do not live and have not lived in Roanoke for 46 years, but every time I come for a family visit I always look for the Star. I feel right at home when seeing it coming into Roanoke.
