Description
The Clark Studio Negatives Collection largely relates to Booker T. Washington Trade School and the Booker T. Washington Elementary at the Booker T. Washington National Monument in Franklin County, Virginia. Student projects, such as the building of Hopkins Hall are pictured as well as the Booker T. Washington Beauty School. There are many other pictures of graduations, ceremonies, and general portraiture. There are also pictures of Roanoke churches often visited by the Black community of Roanoke. Some of the images are also of the Roanoke branches of the Booker T. Washington Trade School and Beauty School. The Carver High School graduating class of 1950 is also featured along with some of their teachers. Photos range from the 1940s to the 1980s.
Booker T. Washington Birthplace Memorial and Booker T. Washington National Monument are used interchangeably throughout the collection.
