Description

Streetscape of a wooden house on the curb of Gainsboro Road, that belongs to either Willie Davis or Chuck Jordan. On the left side, is a brick building, the Gainsboro School with an American flag on the side. On the right side is Joe Mansour's Grocery Store. At the bottom of an image is a street sign that reads "Gainsboro" straight across, and Peach Road pointing backwards. On the right side is a grey stone building. In the background is a neighborhood, and a church that is likely Hill Street Baptist Church is on the right hand side. Signed and dated by author in bottom right corner, along with the word "Gainsboro".

Story in Gainsboro Road and Beyond, p. 37. On the back of the image, titled "Gainsboro School and the Raiseing The Flag" with a drawing of a star. Displayed in the Harrison Museum of African American Culture Exhibit 2023-2024.
