This image looks down Gainsboro Road toward the downtown area of Roanoke. On the left side of the foreground, there is the Gainsboro Branch Library and the library yard. Further down Gainsboro Road, the artist has noted the presence of "Negibors Groc"., "YMCA", and "Johnson Reed". There are also two cross-streets that are labelled as (from front to back) "Patton" and "Jefferson". Several people are seen near the library. St. Andrew's Catholic Church is seen on the left side of the background. Houses are seen in the midground, and the black and white representation of the Hotel Roanoke is in the center of the background. The artist signed the work and also wrote, "Old Gainsboro 1955 86 Hours" in the bottom corner.
