My mom and dad fell in love in Martinsville. He was 18, and she was only 16. Against her mother's wishes, they would drive to Roanoke for late dates at the star. They married soon after, a young love that deepened over the years. I grew up with my mom bringing me to the star after my dad's early death . She told me the story of their romantic dates with stars in her eyes.
