Description
"The late David A. Ramey captured images of life in Roanoke, many from memory. In images such as this these, he focused on the vibrant Gainsboro neighborhood, much lost to urban renewal efforts of the 1960s. Mr. Ramey's work spans a broad range of subject matter, including scenes from work life at Norfolk Western railroad, his Henry County roots, and inspirational religious drawings."
This image depict the Dumas Hotel on the right side of the image. The Henry Street Bridge is seen in the middle of the image. Jack and Jill's Soda Shop is also on the far right. More buildings line the street and recede into the background. The artist signed the piece and also wrote "(c) 2010".
On loan from the estate of David A. Ramey.
